Rieke-Ring

Only DKG members who have made outstanding contributions to society through their voluntary work are awarded the Rieke Ring.

Prof. Dr. Reinhold Rieke (1881‑1945) was the Head of the Chemical-Technical Research Institute of the State Porcelain Manufactory Berlin at the Technical University Berlin. Prof. Rieke was the holder of the first recognized ceramics chair with the right to accept diploma and doctoral theses. The graduates of this institute were instrumental in the upswing of the German ceramics industry.

Prof. Rieke's 25 years of voluntary work as secretary of the association's journal "Journal of the DKG" (1920‑1980, from 1981 cfi/Journal of the DKG) are considered to be of great merit. Prof. Rieke was a guarantor that even during World War I the journal could be published almost annually - at that time still in the DKG predecessor institution.
