Bioceramics are groups of materials that are used in medicine. The "Bioceramics" working group sees itself as a promoter of the exchange of information and experience between medical customers and the manufacturers of ceramic medical technology products.

The working group was founded in 2004. The members develop the thematic focal points, which generally change annually. The working group aims to promote the exchange of experience and information between medical users and manufacturers of biomaterials on fundamentals, technologies and developments.

The AK Bioceramics has its own homepage with further information for you.

The working group brings together experts from the fields of manufacturing ceramic components for medical and biotechnological applications, coating or structuring surfaces, characterizing and researching the interactions between ceramic components, coatings and biological tissues, as well as users of such materials in medicine and biology.

Aims of the working group:

  • Promote exchange of experience and information between medical users, developers and manufacturers of ceramic biomaterials on fundamentals, technologies and developments.
  • Jointly develop an improved understanding of the subject-specific issues at the interface between biomaterials and the biological environment.
