The Joint committee (GA) "Refractories" is a cooperation between the German Society for Materials Science (DGM) and the Deutsche Keramische Gesellschaft (DKG).

Goals of the DKG/DGM joint committee are:

  • Addressing scientific and industrial issues in the field of refractory materials and technology,
  • Developing a scientifically sound understanding of mechanical, thermal, chemical and functional properties of refractory materials with a wide grain size distribution from nm- to mm-grain and material compatibility in high temperature applications (corrosion, erosion, thermal shock, creep, clogging),
  • Initiation of research and development projects: joint projects between universities, research institutes and industry,
  • Exchange of experience between working groups active in the field of high-temperature materials (ceramics, metals, composites) and high-temperature applications,
  • Network building and management.
